Yes, Sir, Yes Ma’am!
By Brian Post
I was raised to believe in decency, common courtesy, and respect.
Things like:
👉 Saying “Yes, sir, no sir”
👉 “Yes ma’am, no ma’am”
👉 Holding the door open for others
👉 Treating people the way you want to be treated
Some call it old-fashioned.
I call it foundational.
My wife, /June Post, has been working with our team by encouraging them that “we want to be the Chick-fil-a of our industry.” This is brilliant and yet not rocket science to model after one of the best businesses at being polite and customer service-focused.
In business, those same principles build stronger teams, loyal customers, and lasting partnerships. When we lead with respect and serve with humility, growth follows—not just in revenue, but in relationships.
We need to bring back politeness. Not as a lost art, but as a competitive advantage. Courtesy costs nothing but pays in loyalty, trust, and reputation.
I’m also deeply thankful for the men and women who live out these values every day:
🇺🇸 Our military
👮♂️ Law enforcement officers
🏥 Front-line medical care workers
🚒 First responders
Your service, sacrifice, and respect for others inspire me to lead better and serve stronger.
Let’s commit—at home, at work, and in the community—to bring back decency, respect, and good old-fashioned “yes sir, no sir / yes ma’am, no ma’am” values.
Because in leadership and in life… manners still matter.
