The last few weeks I’ve been checking in on friends from whom I’ve not heard in a while. I found one had moved into assisted living, another just getting out of the hospital who had a heart surgery a year ago, another passed a few days after I talked to him.
That is called the shadow of death.
Others have been sick for weeks and some are struggling every day.
A few seem okay.
Many have not responded at all. Yet sometimes just having someone check can make a huge difference.
The shadow might not be on you, but we can walk with friends and share a moment in the shadow.
Walk alongside a friend in the shadow this week.
