Thinking About Scripture

Thinking About Scriptures Reading and contemplation of the Bible is not only food for thought, but food to nourish the Spirit within us.

Proverbs 23:12 (NIV) – “Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.”Daily reading of the Bible gives us guidance, verses upon which to meditate, answers to questions we have posed, and words by which to live.

Psalm 23:6 (NIV) – “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”Each morning God’s love awakens us to a new day in and among His beautiful earthly creations with the foregone knowledge that through God’s goodness our Heavenly home awaits us with an eternal life beyond our wildest dreams.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV) – “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”There within our heart, mind, and soul is the Holy Spirit listening to our thoughts, awaiting our questions and concerns, and always ready to give us His holy guidance to the righteous way God has planned for our lives.

Romans 8:28 (NIV) – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”Listen closely for that soft loving whisper and watch for the finger of God pointing us in the directions of His callings for us to help our Lord and Savior, Jesus help, hold and heal others.

Mark 3:35 (NIV) – “Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”There are brothers and sisters in Christ all around us each and every day, and they will join us in fellowship, God’s callings, praise, worship, and most importantly love for one another.

Luke 7:30 (NIV) – “He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’”When we pray for the miracles of God’s healing touch for the sick, injured and confused, we are to trust in God’s healing mercies and know that His will be done, bodies will be healed, and souls saved.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.”When by faith we live in this earthly Garden of Eden, we have the Trees of Life to fulfill our hunger for the knowledge of good and evil, giving each of us all we need to know and have to live according to God’s will. Gracious God, Our Heavenly Father, thank you for all the wonderful blessings You have bestowed upon us, Your children. Guide us through our study of Your enthralling Word. Help us to be Your disciples called to love and disciple those wonderful and wondering people You have placed around us. We pray in Your Son’s Precious Name, Jesus! Amen
