Think before Doing

Don’t fix the guillotine!

from Pastor Phil

Some solutions just work. I don’t have to fully understand.

This week a new friend challenged a statistic I use frequently. So I sent them the source study from which it comes.

During a revolution, a line of folks were going to the guillotine. The first, a minister, knelt and prayed before putting his head in the chop spot. The executioner released the blade but it stopped inches from the neck. As the law stated, if a person survives the guillotine they are freed. The minister danced off the platform praising God. Next was a lawyer. He thought if it worked for the minister, I might as well try it. So he knelt and prayed. Again the executioner dropped the blade and it stopped a few inches short. The lawyer danced away praising God. Last was an engineer. He examined the guillotine and immediately told the executioner how to fix it. His head rolled into the basket.

We can get so focused on being right and fixing things that we lose our heads and peace while others go on to a good life.

Take a breather today. Enjoy the good life. Don’t fix the guillotine.
