The Cost of Surrender

“The way to deeper knowledge of God is through the lonely

valleys of soul poverty and abnegation of all things.”

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants

to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up

their cross and follow me.”

Matthew 16:24

Tozer teaches that surrender is the path to deeper intimacy with

God. True discipleship requires the sacrifice of personal desires

and ambitions, making room for God’s will to take precedence.

Jesus’s call to take up our cross in Matthew 16:24 emphasizes

that following Him comes with a cost. This surrender, though

challenging, leads to the abundant life only God can provide.

Reflect today on what you may need to surrender to grow

closer to God.

Lord, teach me to let go of anything that hinders my walk with You.

Help me to embrace surrender and trust that Your plans are always better than mine. Amen.
