Humility
“Never again has there arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, who Hashem had known face to face.”—Deuteronomy 34:10
The Torah makes it clear that Moses was not just any prophet – he was the greatest there ever was, or will be.
Unlike other prophets, he could talk with God at any moment, with no prep needed. It even says in Numbers 12:3 that Moses was incredibly humble, more than anyone on Earth. It’s pretty mind-boggling, isn’t it? Knowing he led the Jews out of Egypt and received the Torah, you’d think he’d have a big head, but no.
Picture this: you’re in a supermarket, and this sweet old lady asks if you’d help grab some applesauce from the top shelf. You do it without a second thought, right? It’s not like you feel superior just because you’re taller. You’re just using what you’ve got, and you know it’s a little blessing from above.
Moses got it. He knew that everything he had came from God for a reason, all part of his mission in this world. Sure, he had some impressive qualities, but that meant he had some serious responsibilities too.
Realizing your own worth isn’t about being stuck up. It’s about understanding the gifts you’ve been given and using them the way they’re meant to be used.
Being haughty is when you start patting yourself on the back for your talents and thinking you’re better than others. Whether you’ve got a killer voice or a hefty bank account, knowing it’s a gift from God helps you use it for your purpose in this world.
