A WORLD IN CHANGE
THOUGHTS FOR THINKING PEOPLE
Author Leo Price Ministries
There are three things just to mention a few that have happened in our world.
1. An assassination of TRUTH.
It’s been made to be whatever I determine to be ‘TRUTH.’
2. An assassination of MORALITY.
It’s been redefined as a personal choice.
3. A rejection of ‘CHRIST.’
He is just another ‘PHILOSOPHER.’
TRUTH: Blaise Pascal a sixteenth-century French mathematician, physicist, and inventor made this poignant observation: “Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.”
Thucydides a fourth-century Athenian historian and General said: Once the thought process or human nature gains mastery over law (truth), it will redefine law (truth) and morality and become stronger than what is right. (parenthesis added-mine)
The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it. George Orwell an English novelist and journalist
John 17:17 Jesus prays for His Disciples:
(17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
The disciple said to Jesus: John 6:68-69
(68) Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
(69) And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
When we ask God for truth many of us are like the line from Judith Viorst’s play Love and Shrimp that humorously highlights our dance with and around the truth.
“I made him swear he’d always tell me nothing but the truth.
I promised him I never would resent it.
No matter how unbearable, how harsh, how cruel
How come he thought I meant it?”
I would to God that I were able to convince you of the ‘Truth’ but until you come to Him who said: “… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 (KJV)
THEN:
“… ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 (KJV)
For now, allow me to close with this thought. I realize I am just one voice, not the only voice, but one voice… among the frenzied sounds of Christian media. You may well say to me that I might speak differently if I had the position of media and the prosperity that comes with it… however I would prefer to think of myself as not having capitulated to its deceptive force… whether that be true or not, at least for now, will be left up to speculation… ‘however, it would make the truth no less the truth’.
Jill Carattini once said. “The truth isn’t dependent on me.” God did not need me to uphold the pillars and pieces of Christianity to make it a true and valid thing to believe in. It was an awakening not only to the Christian story but also to the very nature of truth itself. Truth is truth whether we choose to stand beside it or not. We want to create our own reality, a mosaic of truths that will suit our own needs. Intrinsic to this approach is the concept of practicality. If it is in any way useful to our lives then it is viewed as a “valid” truth.
I once heard someone in a statement call it life’s motto. “If you can’t use what you know to be true then it isn’t worth knowing.”
As Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate he told him, “I came into this world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me” (John 18:37-38). Before Pilate had even uttered his sarcastic reply – “What is truth?” – Jesus’s words in that profoundly charged conversation cut to the crumbling foundation on which men have stood from antiquity to postmodernism: the search for truth is all too often not about truth at all. As an acquaintance, one time commented, “I refuse to let anyone tell me what my truth is.”
One needs to be careful when climbing the slippery slopes of self-proclaimed truth… while one may accept the moral objectives of Christianity using only those we choose… Still, the ‘Truth’ is we are not making Christ Lord of our lives, that comes with repentance, asking for His Forgiveness, and ‘Making Christ Lord Of Your Life.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Jesus Christ in The Book of John Chapter 8
It was true 2000 years ago and it’s still true today.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus Christ in the book of John chapter 14.
